Quienes somos
S & L Foster Family Agency es una organización 501(C)(3), y fue creada por dos mujeres con experiencia como trabajadoras sociales, que tienen el deseo de ayudar a niños en riesgo dentro del sistema de crianza temporal. Como vimos una brecha en los servicios, nuestro objetivo era brindar servicios educativos, viviendas seguras, salidas creativas, terapia, orientación profesional, talleres para padres adolescentes y oportunidades continuas para empoderar a los jóvenes a través de tutorías. S & L se dedicó a los miembros de nuestra familia que fallecieron en 2021, Sandra y Louis, ya que esta agencia se inspiró maravillosamente de las vidas que llevaron. Juntos estamos emocionados de compartir esta misión con los niños, las familias, y los que nos apoyan al comenzar este maravilloso viaje para cambiar el estigma del cuidado de crianza como lo vemos a través de la perspectiva del ministerio.
Lakiesha Hohl, fundadora
From an early age, Lakiesha Hohl felt a deep calling to nurture and uplift children. At just 16, she began working as a youth teacher’s aide at her local YMCA, a role that quickly evolved into youth program director. That spark became the foundation for a lifelong commitment to serving children, youth, and families with compassion and purpose.After high school, Lakiesha pursued her passion by earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management, followed by a master’s in Psychology. She began her professional journey in ABA therapy,supporting children with developmental delays, a chapter that deepened her empathy and expanded her advocacy for youth. This led her into social work, where she became a devoted champion for children in the foster care system, especially those on the brink of aging out without permanent support.
Lakiesha’s experience spans throughout Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC), adoption, adaptive life skills programming and parent training. She is also certified to supervise and conduct SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) Homestudies, ensuring that families who wish to adopt are thoroughly prepared to offer safe, loving and forever homes.Beyond her professional experience, Lakiesha has a special heart for young mothers and parents navigating difficult circumstances. Her mission includes teaching parenting and life skills in a supportive,community centered environment, one where healing, learning, and growth can happen hand in hand.
She believes deeply in building spaces where young adults and youth can thrive, find their footing, and feel unconditionally supported. She encourages and provides space to grow a strong support system, lift eachother up, and help navigate life’s challenges with grace, strength, and community. Ultimately creating a village to walk together.
In 2018, a lifelong dream came true when Lakiesha adopted two daughters, adding to her beautiful family of six children. A devoted wife and mother, she also finds joy in nature, laughter, and interior design,believing that every space should reflect peace, dignity, and love. As the founder and director of S & L Family Agency, Lakiesha leads with humility, strength, and an unwavering belief that breaking cycles of trauma begins with community, education, and heart. As a team, S & L continues to be a place where former foster youth, parents, and families are seen, supported,and empowered to thrive.
